Staying at the Man Myanmar Hotel means staying in a quiet environment with three excellent neighbours: the Green Elephant restaurant on the right, the Mintha Theater on the left and the Puppet Theater just around the corner. Having seen dances in Thailand and Cambodia, this was not to be missed. I hold classical dance and ballet in the highest regard. To me, ballet is the summun of civilization. Refinement, elegance, respect, art, piecefullness, the capabilities of the human body and mind, the total ban on violenc: it all comes together in an overwhelming mix of culture.
It proved to be a artistic, high class performance with a wide variety of subjects, extremely beautiful girls but, I have to admit, one male dancer was supreme. The orchestra played with an enthousiasm seldom seen, even more if I tell that I was the sole visitor. Fortunately, some other staff joined me so I was not totaly alone in the cosy theatre. After the performance, I had a nice chat with the presenting lady and a few of the performers who were happily lucky to answer my many questions. It was my last evening in Mandalay, what a worthy goodbye!
